There can be some nuance as to what makes a material sustainable. For most of my Zero Waste living, I believed that the goal was to use materials that, if they ended up in a landfill or somehow back into the global ecosystem, they would eventually breakdown completely and that material would be available again for they natural cycles of growth, death, compost, and repeat.
